Are you trying to get on with things in life but your negative thoughts and feelings get in the way, leaving you feeling anxious or depressed?
Do you ever catch yourself being critical, judgmental, or full of fear and worry?
Hello. My name is Gita and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist having consulting rooms in Euston (WC1), in the City (EC2) and West hampstead NW6.
I’m passionate about helping you to free yourself from negative behavioural patterns that have taken hold leaving you feeling stuck, confused, and anxious. Nothing is more exhausting than battling with overwhelming feelings every day and not knowing what to do with them.
Having to work for NHS as a psychotherapist and also other voluntary mental health sectors, I have a broad range of experience working with different mental health issues and appreciate the burden of carrying negative emotions around.
- How I can help you to become free of these difficult feelings
There are times and times in life when we become anxious, eat a lot, shop a lot, succumb to all sorts of addictions, get locked in depression and negative behaviours in our work, relationships and life in general, not knowing the reason behind them. We become physically and emotionally helpless and agitated. That is because we have no idea where these feelings and actions are coming from and are not able to ‘think’ about them. Some of these thoughts and feelings can be unconscious with possible roots in our past experiences and relationships.
In the sessions with me, I will help you to become ‘curious’ about your feelings, thoughts, actions and these possible roots. Every session, you can bring anything that you like and we will work together to understand them and ‘think’ about your difficult feelings and unravel these puzzling roots. After a while, you’ll find yourself being able to think about these intense thoughts and feelings on your own instead of becoming overwhelmed by them or acting them out. This can be a great experience for you and I assure you that you will be thrilled by this achievement.
Step by step you will be able to use this tool of thinking at your work, relationship and personal life, and build a secure self to rely on at times of anxiety and stress. I will help you to feel more in control and also okay to ‘let go’ and you will find yourself better able to cope with matters that are beyond your control.
I’m also fully aware that in choosing me to help you, you’re placing your emotional and mental well being into my care. That’s a huge responsibility and one I take very seriously. Confidentiality and trust are essential in my work with my clients.
Some of the feelings that you may be experiencing are:
* flash of anger
* a sense of feeling stuck, confused or anxious, whether in your job, relationship or other aspect of your life
* over-sensitivity and anxiety much of the time
* a feeling of being overwhelmed or out of control
* difficulty sleeping
* depressed moods and lack of motivation
* difficulty finding a sense of purpose and making decisions
* relationship difficulties – either clinging to a bad relationship or allowing a good one to spiral out of control
* career difficulties – finding yourself either stuck at a job that you don’t like or not being able to find a job suited to your skills or potential
- Your first step
I appreciate that, that first step of seeking help may be hard to take and the path you then tread might be challenging – but I assure you that it comes with the prospect of a better tomorrow and we’ll work together to get you there. My confidence comes from having had the privilege of witnessing my clients turn their lives around.
- The next step
If you feel you’re ready to take the next step, please feel free to contact me on 07776043346. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to give us a chance to talk about your worries and to see how counselling with me may feel to you. Alternatively, if you are ready to get started with counselling, we can discuss arrangements for your first initial consultation session.
I offer flexible treatment: you can choose open-ended sessions that continue for as long or short a time as is necessary to resolve the issues you’re dealing with; or you can opt for short-term therapy which can last anywhere from six to twelve weeks which is more goal oriented.
Please feel free to browse my website to read about the treatments that I can provide you with.
I have experience in working with a diverse range of people in the voluntary sectors, the NHS and in private sector. This has provided me with the opportunity of working with people from different backgrounds and with different psychological distress such as depression, chronic fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, addiction, sexual abuse, trauma, grief and bereavement.
I currently work as a counsellor and therapist in private practice, Bank City of London and Euston. I also work for NHS Homerton Hospital as a psychotherapist.
I have also volunteered for Samaritans providing emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts.
I have gone under a five year intensive psychotherapy training at WPF, one of the leading training centres for psychotherapists in the country and continued working with people from diverse range of backrounds and different psychological distress at this institute for a while.
I hold a Post-graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from Roehampton University.
I also have a BSc in Psychology and have done a great deal of research on human behaviour and mental health.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling amd Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Foundatiom for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and I abide by their ethics, Standards and practices.
I offer a 50 minute initial consultation to discuss about the issues you’re dealing with and how I might be able to help and on the basis of that conversation, we’ll look together at what the next steps should be.
I charge £70 for Euston WC1 and £80 for Bank EC2.
I offer some lower fees for afternoon hours.
