Welcome. I understand that often when seeking therapy people have encountered something difficult in their life. If this is the case, I hope this page helps you understand whether I might be able to help.
Therapy allows you to explore what you are facing in life, in a confidential, safe environment. Therapy is a space to gain support and to reflect but also helps you to see things you can’t always see on your own. Some therapists, such as myself, bring tools and approaches into the room to help further your exploration.
I am an integrative therapist, meaning I work from a number of theoretical perspectives and draw on them based on the unique situation that arises. From time to time I will suggest exercises, approaches or simply ask questions that could help you to see yourself from a different perspective. While I will engage, be proactive and apply all my resources to our work together, therapy is your journey and I will walk alongside you.
I work with a wide range of individuals and do not discriminate on grounds of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, religious background or disability.
Our work is of course confidential and I commit to work at your pace, and am happy at any time to answer questions about the way I work. For those familiar with psychotherapeutic theory, I find humanistic (especially Gestalt and working with the body), psychodynamic, cognitive (including CBT), transpersonal and Jungian approaches useful to my work. In a practical sense, this means talking is the most common “mode” of working, though might mean working with creative visualisation, meditation, mindfulness, creativity and dreams.
I have worked successfully with clients dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, childhood issues (including abuse, divorce and neglect), addiction and stress. I worked for two years in an LGBT charity and have worked gender and sexuality issues with a wide range of ages, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. I have specific interest in workplace issues, including difficult and toxic work environments. My Masters research topic was emotional hunger, a concept which I believe is relevant to both eating and body image issues, but also to many of the other issues I describe above.
I am a friendly, thoughtful and professional therapist. I believe in the possibility of change that therapy offers. My training and clinical experience, my own research and the research of others has shown me that psychotherapy is capable of releasing blocks which prevent us reaching our potential and can help us move beyond aspects of our functioning that no longer serves us.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist I studied and worked in international business. Throughout my prior education and career I have been interested in organisational behaviour and consumer psychology.
You can find out more about my practice, including some details of current availability on my website www.jaredgreenpsychotherapy.com
My training was seven years of rigorous academic, supervised clinical and personal development work.
I have achieved the following post-graduate qualifications:
Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPE)
Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPE)
MA (Merit) in Counselling and Psychotherapy (University of Northampton)
I am committed to continuing professional development. I have undertaken post-qualification training courses in CBT, dissociative disorders, addiction, mindfulness and Jungian psychology.
I’m a UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) registered full clinical psychotherapist, which means I’m professionally trained and have passed assessment for my clinical work and theoretical understanding. It also helps inform my work on matters such as confidentiality, supervision and continuing professional development (CPD). I abide by the UKCP, ethical principles and code of professional conduct.
